Made for Each Other

1971 | Comedy | TV-PG
Joseph Bologna and Renée Taylor wrote and star in MADE FOR EACH OTHER, a semi-autobiographical tale of two lonely losers, Gig "Giggy" Pimimba (Bologna), an Italian boy who hails from Brooklyn, and Pandora Gold (Taylor), a Jewish girl from the Bronx. The two meet in group therapy on Christmas Eve. Pandora quickly opens up to the group, confessing that her mother brought her up to believe that she was fated for a life of wealth and fame (her conception was deliberately timed by her mother to make sure that she'd be a Pices!). Now, however, after a lifetime of ill-fated love affairs and failed attempts at becoming an actress, she believes that she's a failure at everything. Gig is at first reluctant to talk, but the others in the group session bully him until he reveals his past: Raised by a religious fanatic of a mother and a stern, autocratic father, he has failed to live up to their expectations that he become a Marine, a priest or even a barber. He didn't graduate from college until he was 29, and his major - African Studies - didn't exactly make him a hot property on the job market. Riddled with neuroses and guilts, he is emotionally stunted and incapable of carrying on a long-term relationship. His love life is a series of love 'em and leave 'em affairs.Pandora and Gig are drawn together by their mutual loneliness and vulnerability, and begin a rocky courtship.
Featuring: Renee Taylor, Joseph Bologna
