On a mission to cross the border into Mexico and deliver $86,000 to the widow of his former employer, cowboy Pike (Jim Brown) traverses an Old West wasteland where he finds friend and foe at every turn. Teamed up with crooked gambler Tyree (Fred Williamson), Indian scout Kashtok (Jim Kelly) and prostitute Catherine (Catherine Spaak), Pike and his ragtag crew run from a mob of bloodthirsty pursuers, including callous bounty hunter Kiefer (Lee Van Cleef) and corrupt sheriff Kane (Barry Sullivan). ‘Take a Hard Ride’ is a notable piece of ‘70s B cinema in that it is combines blaxploitation with the spaghetti western; it also is one of several blaxploitation films to include Brown and Williamson together.
